CANDY EKAMBA
TREASURER
Candy is originally from Congo-Kinshasa. She is a wife and a mom of one. She migrated to the US in 2015 and had to learn English because her first language is French. She did not want to learn English by herself, so the Workforce advised her to enroll in the I-BEST program (help desk training). With little English, it was hard to find a Job in the US. One of her friends was working at a caregiver agency and encouraged her to apply since she was already taking care of her niece and nephew who are autistic. Candy has been a caregiver for 5 years. Candy is currently pursuing her Information Technology (IT) program at Tacoma Community College. She is passionate about helping children with special needs. “I understand what words can't explain”. Candy is pleased to volunteer for Bella Smiles for Developmental Disabilities as the Treasurer. Candy believes that families need resources to be able to take care of their children with special needs.
